I served a 20 year sentence in the low budget, nonunion movie business as a jack of all trades. Mostly Westerns. When that played out I drove a truck, delivered furniture.
The onset of middle-age sent me to X-Ray School. After graduation I went to work at the hospital where I'd done my clinical training. I worked the graveyard shift serving the ER. The best education a writer could have.
During my time in the movie business I met some of the best people I've ever known: Jack Elam, Paul Fix, Ben Johnson; Dawn Wells and Jaclyn Smith.
On the downside I endured Tim McIntire and Peter Fonda. Both the sons of actors.
I am a poor speller.
